Overview

Here’s a list of the best Wii games for weight loss- ones that get your heart pounding, your muscles working, and your brow sweating. These are the options that burn the most calories.

Zumba Fitness– This burns calories just as well as any of the real classes do. This is one of the best options for weight loss because you end up dancing extra pounds right off without even really realizing that you’re working out.

Another benefit to calories burned playing Zumba Fitness is that you will be learning steps commonly used in Zumba, in case you ever want to go to a real class. How many calories does Zumba Fitness burn?

Just Dance– This version comes with over 40 new songs. It’s so much fun that you aren’t even aware you’re working out, but this burns a high number of calories and even provides some toning benefits, thanks to all of the dance moves. How many calories does Wii Just Dance Burn? Find out here.

For more ways to get fit and burn calories at home, check out Fitness Blender's newest feature: Home Workout Videos.

Just Dance – The original Just Dance is also a great workout. There are over 30 songs, each with a different dance. You can have up to 4 players. You won't even know you're working out and as an added bonus, you get to laugh at all of your friends.

EA Sports Active 2- Sports Active 2 lets you create your own workouts to target upper body, lower body, or both. It has a cardio component to get your heart rate up and it even lets you track your progress with the 30 Day Challenge. This one is great for someone who hates the gym and needs a little motivation to keep working out.

Gold's Gym Dance Workout- This is an ideal option because before you start each song, it gives you an estimate of how many calories you will burn during the dance. It really gets you moving and it even lets you build your own circuit programs using combinations of mini games and dances - this can be a huge advantage for someone who is picky about their workouts or who has an injury to work around. The Gold's Gym Dance Workout burns a high number of calories.

Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board– There are many non-dance related options out there, but this one was my favorite because of the way that it incorporated fun balance challenges into the mix. While this doesn’t burn as many calories as some of the ones listed above, it does still give you a workout and it increases your balance and coordination, which are very important and often overlooked.

The Biggest Loser Challenge- The fitness calendar that tracks your progress and fitness level helps you stay accountable and motivated. There are over 125 exercises, including upper and lower body circuits, core exercises and cardio moves. If you enjoy the show, you will likely enjoy this one.

An organized approach to strength training is very important but games that incorporate physical activity are a great option on the days where going to the gym is just not going to happen- it takes less motivation to push the power button and start the thing in your own living room than it does to haul off to a crowded gym.
