Strawberry Banana Smoothie: Low Calorie Smoothie Recipe

Strawberry Banana Smoothie: Low Calorie Smoothie Recipe

Healthy Recipes

Overview

This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is rich with antioxidants, and high in fiber, calcium and potassium. A smoothie is one of those things that tastes so good that it’s hard to believe that it’s healthy for you.

This recipe is easy to make and works well for a light meal or snack. This is a low calorie blend that is free of the additives, preservatives, and excess sugars of those drinks found at popular chains.

Ingredients
1 Banana
1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
¾ Cup Plain or Vanilla Yogurt
¼ Cup Milk

Pour the milk onto the blades of the blender first, then add the yogurt and banana and blend well. Next add the frozen strawberries, and blend one last time.

The frozen berries make for a thick, desert-like blend; for a thinner consistency, use berries that are thawed.

Makes one large serving.

This is an excellent choice for a pre-workout meal. All of the carbs will give you energy so that you can go for it while you’re at the gym.

This is a low fat recipe by nature; all of the fruits don’t add up to many grams of fat. Dietary fat is necessary in order for your body to feel full, so it may be a good idea to have a small snack with this (if used as a meal replacement) just so that you wont be hungry again in 20 minutes!

Good examples of heart healthy fats would be a slice of an avocado, a scoop of peanut butter, or a serving of almonds.
